New York Jets vs New York Giants

After six months without football, the NFL made its return last week with the traditional Hall of Fame Game.

New York Jets vs New York Giants Live

Seven days on from the Denver Broncos’ 14-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, the NFL preseason gets underway in earnest on Thursday night with 11 games on the slate.

It all kicks off when the two New York rivals, the Giants and the Jets, collide at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

While the two teams share tenancy of the arena, matchups between the Big Apple rivals are relatively rare occasions. The two teams have played each other in preseason in the last three years, but have not met in the regular season or in the playoff since December 2015, when the Jets won in overtime.

Prior to that, the Giants had won five games in a row and lead the all-time regular season series 8-5.

History, however, will count for little on Thursday and even less so this season as both franchises desperately look for improvements after a dismal campaign last year.

Here’s everything you need to know about Thursday night.

What to look out for

The Jets went 4-12 last season, finishing bottom of the AFC East and missing the postseason for the eighth consecutive season. The offseason, however, has brought major changes, with head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan both fired.

Former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase has replaced Bowles, while Joe Douglas has stepped into Maccagnan’s shoes.
