First time under the lights
For a lot of veterans, this preseason game doesn’t mean a whole lot, but there are 22 rookies or first-year players on the 90-man roster and this will be the first preseason game for all the rookies (see story).
It’ll be our first chance to see Andre Dillard, Miles Sanders, JJ Arcega-Whiteside and more.
And it’s not just fans who are excited to see them. Their veteran teammates get excited too (see story).
Summer of Sudfeld
Get ready to see a lot of Nate Sudfeld in these four preseason games. Nick Foles is gone and the fourth-year QB is now Carson Wentz’s backup. Sudfeld has thrown just 25 career passes, so we don’t know a ton about him.
“I think it can be a really good indication for him,” head coach Doug Pederson said. “You know, the goal would be to get him as much time as we can behind center in these four games. I don’t want him to feel like there’s any kind of pressure but there’s always pressure to just go perform and just play. He’s very comfortable with the offense. I think by cutting it down, too, the volume of information, even for a guy that’s been here, can help, when you cut the volume down.”
For the second straight year, the preseason will belong to Sudfeld. In the four games last preseason, Sudfeld completed 43 of 74 attempts for 524 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He had a passer rating of 85.6.
